Penyem village Gambia

Penyem village is located about 35 minutes drive from the River Gambia and 46 minutes drive from the Atlantic ocean on the west coast of Gambia. Penyem is also conveniently located 4 miles from Brikama where villagers buy and sell food. In addition, schools, household items, construction hardware, and pharmacy are easily accessible by taxi and van transport. The roads are level so bicycles are a popular mode of travel for young and old. The village has a population of approximately 3500 inhabitants who are mostly Muslims. The ethnic groups that live in Penyem village are majority Jolas including the village Alkali. Fulas are the second largest community and a few mandinka families as well. The village is peaceful and people live in harmony which is the case across Gambia. People, especially the elderly and children are easy to talk to while sitting under a tree, and English is widely spoken. Moreover, the village is welcoming and peaceful; foreigners have plots of land and expats build homes because Penyem is peaceful and affordable. So, for anyone who is looking for a traditional place to live, I would recommend Penyem village in Gambia.
